Protection and reverts

Every change Uptides makes is watched. Anything that underperforms its own history gets reverted automatically, and you can revert anything yourself at any time.

Auto-revert

In Settings → General, Auto-revert underperforming titles "automatically rolls an underperforming title back to the best-performing version we've measured. Runs even with auto-optimize off, so titles that slip get caught and corrected as quickly as possible." It is on for new channels.

Uptides compares a changed video against its own trend, not against other videos. When the video has been getting fewer daily engaged views than its own trend predicted, and the shortfall has held long enough to be more than noise, the earlier title is put back. If the video had a big viral run earlier, Uptides accounts for that so the recent drop is not mistaken for a failure.

What you see

A reverted video shows Protected on Reports. Its history lists the change as "Reverted" or "Reverted to original," with a chip showing whether it was done by you, by Uptides ("Auto"), or changed directly on YouTube.

Round one is calibration: some titles will hit, some will miss. Misses teach Uptides, and protection reverts anything that hurts.

The ledger

Your dashboard's ledger lists every change Uptides makes, in order: each title and each thumbnail we apply, and every revert — with the video, when it happened, and its current status. Thumbnail changes show the previous and new image side by side. You can undo any change straight from its row. (A thumbnail you change yourself directly on YouTube isn't shown here — the ledger records the changes Uptides makes.)

The dashboard shows your most recent changes, with a Full history → link to see everything. You can also get there from Reports via The ledger →. The full-history page lists every change Uptides has ever made, with a Show 25 more button to keep paging back through your history.

Reverting manually

Open Revert Optimization on any optimized video. Your YouTube video updates right away. You choose:

• Revert title and/or Revert thumbnail
• Revert to: an earlier version. Choosing the original undoes every title optimization on the video; choosing a previous Uptides title also undoes the newer ones.

The card then shows "Reverted."

When you leave Uptides

Disconnecting a channel restores every title and thumbnail Uptides applied back to your original versions on YouTube. See Leaving Uptides.
