Connecting your channel

What Uptides asks for when you connect, which Google account to choose, and what it can and cannot do with the access.

Updated September 16, 2026

Connecting takes one click and a Google sign-in. Uptides walks you through Google's own account screen, then starts syncing your videos.

Before you click Connect

Sign in with the Google account associated with your channel:

  • If your channel is a Brand Account: sign in with the same Google account you use for YouTube Studio. You need the Manager role or above. On Google's account screen, pick the channel itself, not your personal email.
  • If your channel is not a Brand Account: only the channel owner's Google account can connect it. YouTube does not allow external access for anyone else, even managers who can use YouTube Studio.

If the channel you expect is not listed on Google's screen, see Brand Accounts and which Google account to use.

What access Uptides asks for

  • Admin-level access to your YouTube channel
  • Access to your channel's analytics
  • The ability to change titles and thumbnails through YouTube's API, so a change you approve in Uptides is made on YouTube for you

That access is used only for optimization, measurement, and reporting. Uptides never owns, monetizes, or independently manages your channel. Nothing changes on YouTube until you apply a change, or until you turn on auto mode for a video.

What happens right after you connect

You get a welcome email confirming the channel is connected, and Uptides begins syncing your videos. The next screen asks you to pick up to three videos that best represent your channel's style. Then Uptides studies your archive, which takes a few minutes and is safe to leave; you get an email when your Channel Brief and first title candidates are ready.

No card is needed to see your Brief and first candidates. See After you connect for the full sequence.
