How results are measured

Engaged views, the projected baseline, the 30/90/365-day views on Reports, and why Shorts are shown separately.

Updated September 28, 2026

Uptides reports the numbers YouTube reports, side by side with a baseline it calculates, so you can see what changed after an optimization.

Engaged views

Every view count in Uptides is labeled Engaged views: views where someone actually watched, using YouTube's engaged views metric. YouTube changed how public view counts are tallied in August 2026; Uptides uses engaged views so your numbers stay comparable over time.

The projected baseline

On the Channel Performance Summary chart, "Daily engaged views" is plotted against Projected baseline (decay), an Uptides-calculated projection of what the video would have done without a change, and a marker for the first optimization. The baseline is Uptides' calculation, not a YouTube metric. You can switch the chart between Views and Impressions & CTR.

Time windows

Reports offers 30d, 90d, and 365d views. The summary card aggregates the optimized videos in that window. A newly optimized video shows Collecting data until there is enough data to say anything.

Each optimized video also has its own page with day-by-day numbers, opened by clicking it in the list on Reports. See Finding your performance data.

Status words

Each optimized video is one of Collecting data, Watching, Stable, Improving, or Declining. A video whose title was rolled back is Protected. These words are the same everywhere in Uptides: the dashboard, the Videos page, and Reports.

Shorts are separate

Shorts are shown in their own block on Reports ("Shorts this period": how many were optimized and their engaged views) and are reviewed separately on the Review page. Headline channel figures cover long-form videos only, so a burst of Shorts views does not blur what happened to your catalog.

Keeping data fresh

Reports shows a sync status: Synced, Syncing…, or Sync Failed, with a Sync Now button. If it says Sync Failed, see Troubleshooting sync and reconnecting.
