Thumbnails

Uptides can propose new thumbnails alongside new titles, or track a thumbnail you made yourself.

Generate thumbnails

On a video, choose Generate Thumbnails. Uptides produces a set of variants shown under "Thumbnail Variants." Pick one to approve, then apply it from the Apply to YouTube dialog by ticking "Apply new thumbnail." Generation counts toward the thumbnail generation usage shown on your Billing page.

Upload your own

Choose Upload thumbnail to use an image you made outside Uptides. The dialog accepts JPG or PNG up to 2MB, previews it, and then applies it to YouTube. Uploading here tracks the change as a thumbnail optimization so you can measure its performance over time, and it uses no AI generation credit.

Applying and reverting

Thumbnail changes go through the same Apply to YouTube dialog as titles, with separate checkboxes for title and thumbnail. After applying, the card shows "Thumbnail applied." To roll back, open Revert on the video and tick "Revert thumbnail."

Thumbnails are always manual

Auto mode covers titles only. A thumbnail changes only when you apply one. In a video's history, each thumbnail is labeled "Uptides generated" or "User uploaded," and "Manual."
